{Summers in South Haven}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater vest from Anthropologie,
skirt from Target,
shoes by Dansko,
watch by Marc Jacobs,
earrings from Mexico,
necklace (gift purchased in South Haven, MI)
I grew up in Chicago, just across the lake from South Haven Michigan, and was blessed to have a summer home up there. My family spent the summers swimming at the beach and going to the Blueberry Festival! My dear friend Taylor, who had a home just down the beach from us, bought me this adorable necklace for my birthday this year. We celebrated the night on the bluff with an amazing sunset and I reflected on how much I loved living 120 miles away from my "summer retreat!"

{grandma's glitz}

What I'm wearing:
Skirt by American Apparel,
cardigan by Olive & Oak from Marshalls,
tank by Rubbish,
watch by Michael Kors,
flats by J. Crew,
black & gold brooch on waist & necklace
from Grandma Rosenwinkel
When I first put this outfit on, I felt like it was missing something. With so many neutral colors, black, white, & tan, I wanted to add a bit of detail, so I decided to pin one of my many brooches to my skirt. I received a few brooches, including this one, from my grandma, who was an insanely glamourous & beautiful woman! My big gold chain necklace was also my grandmothers! What a fashionista, right? I really enjoy wearing her jewelry because I know she is looking down on me & loving it :) She was always decked out with jewelry.

{"the ultimate teaching outfit"}

What I'm wearing:
 Blouse from Banana Republic,
skirt from antique shop in Michigan,
shoes by Miz Mooz,
watch by Michael Kors,
earrings from grandma,
& ring from my parents
So according to my boyfriend, this is the "Ultimate teaching outfit!" Haha! It basically makes me feel like a teacher from a Disney cartoon! I love this skirt with the tea length cut & bold colors; I bought it at an antique store in South Haven, MI. It sends me back to the 1950s era! I decided to pair it with neutral heels and a white blouse to turn down the energy a couple of notches.

{meeting the parents}

What I'm wearing:
Dress from Pitaya,
belt from Anthropologie,
shoes by Mizz Mooz,
watch by Michael Kors,
earrings (gift from sister)
So in life meeting your boyfriend's parents is a big deal... and tonight I learned that meeting your student's parents is too! I wanted to make a good impression and give them a feel for my teaching style and my classroom set up. Overall it went really well and I felt very professional (which was my goal)! I bought this adorable dress over the summer with teaching in mind. It makes me feel like I'm living in the 1960s, an era which I adore!

{soaking up summer}

What Rachel's wearing:
Dress from The Levi Store,
 and belt & sandals from Target
I love Rachel's casual look from our brunch date on Sunday at the South Side Walnut Café. Her outfit was the perfect balance between laid back and trendy. This look just embodied summer!

Cardigan & tank from Forever 21,
scarf (gift from Jan),
necklace by M. Santana,
jeans by Angel Jeans,
flats from Ecolé from Urban Outfitters,
 belt from Goodwill,
watch by Michael Kors,
& earrings from my grandma
The weekend is here & you know what that means... I can wear whatever I want!! For me today, that meant JEANS! I love the contrast between the bright purple & the mustard tank in this outfit. Then, to help tone the colors down a bit, I threw on a tan cardigan!
Today I spent the morning at a coffee shop near my new apartment & finished up my room decorations! Check out my bedroom layout (courtesy of my Instagram).

{busting out the boots}

What I'm wearing:
Blouse from French Connection,
tank & belt from Forever 21,

{first day of school}

What I'm wearing:
Blouse from Urban Outfitters,
cardigan from The Gap,
skirt from target,
bow pin from my grandma,
necklace from M. Santana,
heels by Mizz Mooz,
& watch by Michael Kors
Yes, even teachers have to get dress for the first day of school. My main goal was to not look like a student! Finding the balance between looking like me & being professional is always a slight challenge, but I feel like over the last few months I have gotten pretty good at it. I decided to go all out with the bow theme (haha!) and wear my grandmother's pin.

{teacher prep}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater from J.Crew,
blouse from Banana Republic,
pants from American Eagle,
shoes by Dansko from REI,
necklace from M. Santana,
earrings from Grandma Rosenwinkel
Planning & meetings! The life of a teacher prior to the first day of school is busy, busy! One thing you should know about me for the upcoming autumn season is that I love the FALL TIME! Not only to I love the changing leaves, pumpkin bread, and slightly-chilly weather, I also LOVE the clothes; cozy sweaters, jeans, boots, & flannels! At the end of summer, I always end up wearing sweaters & pants despite the heat because I am so ecstatic for fall! I decided to wear these adorable light grey pants in my air conditioned office and was so content all day. Autumn is on its way!
