{sweet Janie}

What Janie's wearing:
Dress from Kaitlyn Boutique (in California),
belt from Nordstroms,
flower hair pin from Target,
heart ring from her great grandmother
My friend Janie is one of the most creative gals I know. She uniquely painted her whole apartment, is a wonderful photographer, and has such great fashion sense! As you can see here, she is sweet with some flare. I love the big flower in her hair along with this dark blue maxi dress. Some friends all went over at her place for a wine & cheese party the other night! She and her roomies are always great hostesses with little treats, delicious creations, and cheerful smiles! Not to mention, the adorable Christmas decorations in her apartment. Just love her!

{Livin' it up}

What Olivia's swearing:
Jacket (thrifted and orginially from Chicos cerca 1990s),
turtleneck from Gap,
red jeans from Urban Outfitters,
boots from Kohls,
purse by Coach (vintage),
watch by Michael Kors,

Only Olivia could pull off a Chico's jacket from the 1990s! She is just too adorable. Every time I see her is paring something vintage or funky and always looks amazing. I love her use of pink in this outfit with her pink lips and the crazy funky blazer! Liv always looks like a babe :)

{shopping in Chicago}

Meet Heather! If you followed my blog prior to August, you should recognize her from many photo features for her impressive fashion sense. But in August, she packed up her big white suv and moved to Chicago. Luckily when I travel home to see my family, I get to spend time with this one (who lets be honest is part of my family!) For our reunion this time around, we spent the evening shopping in Lincoln Park and playing trivia with some of my friends from high school. Heather is getting married this Summer and we thought it would be fun to look for my bridesmaid's dress. Unfortunately, no luck finding a dress, but I had her pose for my blog in the store she bought her dress from a few months ago. Such an adorable store!
Her Ring!
What Heather's wearing:
Jean shirt by J.Crew,
skirt from Gap,
white scarf from Target,
gold tank from Goodwill,
red bracelet from Frill Accessory Boutique,
watch by La Mer sold at Urban Outfitters
flats, yellow cardigan, & tights by Missoni sold at Target

{turn loose all the horses}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater from The Gap,
scarf (gift from Allison),
jeans from American Eagle,
booties by Steve Madden,
earrings from Grandma Rosenwinkel,
lipstick by Cover Girl Queen Collection
I'm back in sweet home Chicago this week! It has been so wonderful to spend time with my parents and see my grandpa. I actually took these pictures in his backyard! It is great to be home for fall break, my first break as a first-year teacher! Winter break will be here before we know it.
Today I'm heading downtown to go shopping with my friend Heather from college. With the chilly weather, I bundled up with this amazing horse-detailed scarf and my suede Steve Madden booties. It may be cold, but with no snow in Chicago, my suede will be safe!

{bright & bold}

What I'm wearing:
T-shirt from Urban Outfitters,
purse by Street Level from Francesca's Closet,
skirt from Forever 21,
boots by Unity,
lipstick by Cover Girl,
earrings from Grandma Rosenwinkel,
ring from Goldmine Vintage,
& watch by Marc Jacobs
Today I went for it with the bright red skirt, matching lips, & bold stripes. I bought this skirt a few years ago and mainly have worn it around the Christmas holidays. It was exciting to finally find a "less festive" way to wear this skirt!

{a touch of tough}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater by Annabella from Francesca's Closet,
shirt by Day Dreamer LA from Urban Outfitters (gift),
jeans by American Eagle,
booties by Steve Madden,
purse by Street Level from Francesca's Closet,
& bracelet (hand-me- down)
This 80's rock-looking top has been difficult to wear because it makes me feel tough, which I am not! Haha! So, to tone it down a bit, I paired it with a creamy sweater and some wedge booties. The blue Street Level purse pulls out the colors in the shirt and adds a spark to the overall tan look. I'm looking forward to tying this new navy purse into my wardrobe. It is a perfect size and I love the gold details.

{jeopardy scarves}

Read below how to make a infinity scarf
out of a normal one like this!
What I'm wearing:
Sweater from Gap,
skirt & scarf from Argentina,
flats from  J.Crew,
glasses by Calvin Klein,
Today while playing Jeopardy with my level 3 Spanish class, I was explaining the different categories and a student suggested making a category titled "Ms. Rosenwinkel's Scarves!" He claims that I own too many and that he could list all of them. In response, I said you can never own too many scarves!

I turned this regular old scarf into an infinity scarf (something I do quite often). I love the way the tassels hang down in the front! To get this look, take a scarf with end tassels and grab two of the strands. Tie these two strands together. Then, with your now circular scarf, loop it around your neck pulling the tassels to the front. Finally, arrange the portion of the scarf without tassels over the front of the knotted strands in order to hide them.

In addition to the scarves comment, my students were highly intrigued by my extremely thick & "hipster" glasses. I probably tallied about 15 comments about them today... both good and random ones :) Oh, high schoolers!

{color blocking}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater by Theory,
tank from Forever 21,
jeans byBDG from Urban Outfitters,
boots by Boemos,
watch by Michael Kors,
necklace by Bramble
No patterns, just colors! Despite the fact that there are no patterns in my outfit, the layered sweater and belted waist add some contrast and definition to the bright colors. I decided to keep my jewelry simple to avoid this outfit being way to busy!

{bundled up with buttons}

What I'm wearing:
Shirt from Gap,
jeans from American Eagle,
boots by Boemos,
scarf made by Maura Stoffer,
belt from Goodwill,
earrings gift,
watch by Michael Kors
In addition to the amazing color of this adorable scarf made by my friend, Maura, I love the wooden buttons that tie it all together. This scarf is my staple for Fridays since at our school the teachers are encouraged to wear black & gold... Well I usually go for black & mustard yellow! I love the contrast between the black top and brown leather because sometimes black on black leather is too harsh. The brown leather gives this outfit a autumn feel!
