{another classic}

What I'm Wearing:
Cardigan from Target,
white blouse from H&M,
skirt sewn by me,
watch by Michael Kors,
& flats from Target
I sewed this tea-length 50's skirt last summer and love the classic elements of it. The length makes it appropriate for any occasion, but it is still flirty and cute in its overall style. I love the high waist because I feel it is flattering and feminine. Sometimes the light blue color of this skirt can be difficult to match with other items, but I think this mustard cardigan plays off of it nicely. Black shoes would have provided to much contrast with the blue and the mustard, so I wore a pair of caramel leather flats. Although this is similar to my previous "classic teacher"post, the colors are completely different from the deep reds and blues on my black skirt from last week. Today's post is a lighter, more summery version of the classic teacher style!
After a number of classy teacher outfits, I decided to wrap up the school year on Friday with a fun, laid back style. I'll be posting that outfit soon! Have a wonderful weekend!

{spearmint summer}

What I'm Wearing:
Jean jacket from H&M,
spearmint dress from H&M,
geode necklace - bridesmaids gift from Heather,
boots by Steve Madden
Memorial day weekend is always a wonderful time to transition into summer styles! Despite the scattered thunderstorms, this weekend was amazing. Strolling around the creek festival, dining outside, laying in my hammock, BBQing with friends, and my roommate getting engaged weren't stopped by the rain. On Saturday, with the threat of evening showers, I wore my booties with a jean jacket. Paring these over the light spearmint dress kept me warm and summery! H&M has a lot of really cute basic dresses, tanks, and skirts right now. I got this simple, but adorable colored sundress a few days ago!

Dinner before the engagement party on Sunday
Alex and Cameron got engaged on Sunday!!
I couldn't be happier for my wonderful friends.
Congrats, you love birds!

{classic teacher}

What I'm wearing:
White blouse from H&M,
skirt from Goodwill,
sandals from Madewell,
watch by Michael Kors
Just a few more days as a teacher before I head off for my masters this fall! I can't believe that summer is here and finals are next week. After 6 years of living in Colorado, I will be moving back to Chicago so soon! Its hard to think about leaving my beloved mountains, dear friends, and wonderful job, but I trust that the Lord has great adventures in front of me.
I'm assuming that as I transition from high school teaching into being a graduate student my style to morph a bit. Also, city living might provide me some new threads as well. I do still love the classic teacher outfits that I worn over the past few years. For me, one of my favorite styles is a below the knee classy skirt, flats, and a simple blouse. If you look through my old posts you'll see a variety of outfits like this one! The colors and print of the skirt is so fun and I always get tons of compliments on it. The fact that I bought it at Goodwill for $5 makes the compliments even better!

{geometric gems}

What I'm Wearing:
Sweater by Abound,
patterned pants from Forever 21,
neutral heels by Steve Madden,
& watch by Michael Kors
I finally took the plunge and bought a pair of patterns pants! I found this lovely pair at Forever 21 a week ago. The navy, sky blue, and vibrant orange are fun colors that add so much to these geometric slacks! I wanted to wear them with a basic top and my navy light weight Abound sweater fit nicely with the detailing in the pants. With a loud statement piece, I think its important to either balance it out with something classic or to go all out with patterns and colors. On Thursday, I chose the more classic look. These geometric gems are so fun. I'm excited to see what I can wear them with!

{maximum style}

What I'm wearing:
T-shirt by Threads for Thought from Whole Foods,
skirt by Max Studio,
sandals by Madewell,
bracelets gift,
necklace from my grandma,
& cardigan from Target
This cold weather is making me miss the warmth just a week ago! Here is a late post from the pre-snow weather. The thing I love about maxi skirts is that they are great for any season! Winter and fall, no need for tights, and spring and summer, they are a breezy option in place of jeans. I love the gray and white pattern on this skirt. With the unique design and the simple coloring, it is easy to add solid accent elements, like a black shirt or a yellow cardigan. All of the parts of this outfit fall nicely together to create a comfy outfit with maximum style!
