{even teachers dress up for prom}

Emily and I went out to dinner
before the dance at Linger in Denver
Even though the risk of being asked "which high school do you go to?" when you are actually a teacher is at its ultimate high when dressing up for prom, it is definitely worth it! My coworker, Emily, and I (along with a few others) all decided to dress up and go all out for the evening. Our school offers a prom dress rental and to show girls that the dresses they offer are actually very lovely we decided to rent our outfits for the night. Hopefully more girls will rent there dresses next year! I decided to add a little color to my full-length black gown with a bejeweled necklace from J.Crew. I'm glad I did because it helped bring my outfit all together. The students looked so wonderful at the dance and had an amazing time! I really enjoy chaperoning dances and seeing the girls all glammed out. I love full length gowns and unfortunately there aren't many situations in life where you get to wear one, so I always encourage girls to were floor-length dresses to the dances! And sometime I even join them ;)

{with spring, comes new life}

What I'm wearing:
Dress from Target,
necklace  by (borrowed from my sister),
wedges by Kenna,
watch by Michael Kors,
gold bangle from my mom

John looked handsome in his
Levi Jeans, Penguin boots, and
Banana Republic button-down and tie
I love springtime for the life that it brings! Beautiful flowers, baby animals, and the celebration of Easter. We rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and spend time reflecting on the sacrifice he made for us. I am so thankful for the new life I have in the Lord and am so blessed by the family and friends. Spending Easter at home in Chicago was the best way to spend the weekend. My family sat down at a table set for fourteen people! How wonderful is that?! Aside from missing my oldest sister, Allison, I couldn't have asked for a better day!

{celebrating Madeline and the arrival of spring in Chicago}

With the bride to be, Madeline
What I'm wearing:
Foral blouse from Many Belles Forward,
lace dress by Fire Los Angeles from Marshalls,
& wedges by Kenna

On Saturday, the sun was shining over Madeline's bridal shower! What a wonderful day to spend fill of laughter, words of advice, and lovely bridal gifts. Madeline and I have know each other since high school and she has helped me become the person I am today! This June, Maddie and Tyler are getting hitched in a quaint Texas wedding with 40 of their closest family and friends. This saturday was a wonderful opportunity to gather together with women of all ages from our community and spend time loving on Maddie. She is such a ray of light and is the most humble bride. It was such a joy to celebrate her upcoming marriage with so many of my beautiful friends from high school.

For the occasion, I revamped a bridesmaids dress from a wedding I was in last summer. Layering a loose fitting blouse or sweater is a great way change up a sundress. In this outfit, I took this loose floral top and paired it with a simple lace dress. It is a fun way to transition into springtime outfits without the need for a cardigan!

{concert tee}

What I'm wearing:
Skirt from H&M,
t-shirt from Dave Matthews Band Concert,
belt from Anthropologie,
flats from Target,
watch by Michael Kors
All throughout high school and college I was in love the Dave Matthews Band. Over the years I have been to 6 DMB concerts and have bought 4 or 5 Dave shirts. Usually I wear them with jeans, but today I found a cute and comfy way to rock my concert tees. With a long skirt and a belt, you can dress up a old shirt and bring it new life. I thought the deep purple complimented the pale accents in this heather gray concert from the Mile High Music festival circa 2010. It was fun to wear it again!

{all about the necklace}

What I'm wearing:Necklace from J.Crew,
blouse by Staring at Stars from Urban Outfitters,
jeans by American Eagle,
bracelet from my mom,
& watch by Michael Kors
It truly is all about the necklace in this situation. No matter what I'm wearing, this amazing J.Crew necklace always steals the show.  To balance out the bold colors and bejeweled elements in the necklace, I like to pair it with a basic blouse or dress. A friend of mine got this necklace as a gift and I adored it on her. I never thought I'd find it, but this winter I was strolling through J.Crew and I saw it front and center. Then, to my surprise, it was on sale (just as I saw shopping for a statement necklace)!
