{celebrating Madeline and the arrival of spring in Chicago}

With the bride to be, Madeline
What I'm wearing:
Foral blouse from Many Belles Forward,
lace dress by Fire Los Angeles from Marshalls,
& wedges by Kenna

On Saturday, the sun was shining over Madeline's bridal shower! What a wonderful day to spend fill of laughter, words of advice, and lovely bridal gifts. Madeline and I have know each other since high school and she has helped me become the person I am today! This June, Maddie and Tyler are getting hitched in a quaint Texas wedding with 40 of their closest family and friends. This saturday was a wonderful opportunity to gather together with women of all ages from our community and spend time loving on Maddie. She is such a ray of light and is the most humble bride. It was such a joy to celebrate her upcoming marriage with so many of my beautiful friends from high school.

For the occasion, I revamped a bridesmaids dress from a wedding I was in last summer. Layering a loose fitting blouse or sweater is a great way change up a sundress. In this outfit, I took this loose floral top and paired it with a simple lace dress. It is a fun way to transition into springtime outfits without the need for a cardigan!

{concert tee}

What I'm wearing:
Skirt from H&M,
t-shirt from Dave Matthews Band Concert,
belt from Anthropologie,
flats from Target,
watch by Michael Kors
All throughout high school and college I was in love the Dave Matthews Band. Over the years I have been to 6 DMB concerts and have bought 4 or 5 Dave shirts. Usually I wear them with jeans, but today I found a cute and comfy way to rock my concert tees. With a long skirt and a belt, you can dress up a old shirt and bring it new life. I thought the deep purple complimented the pale accents in this heather gray concert from the Mile High Music festival circa 2010. It was fun to wear it again!

{all about the necklace}

What I'm wearing:Necklace from J.Crew,
blouse by Staring at Stars from Urban Outfitters,
jeans by American Eagle,
bracelet from my mom,
& watch by Michael Kors
It truly is all about the necklace in this situation. No matter what I'm wearing, this amazing J.Crew necklace always steals the show.  To balance out the bold colors and bejeweled elements in the necklace, I like to pair it with a basic blouse or dress. A friend of mine got this necklace as a gift and I adored it on her. I never thought I'd find it, but this winter I was strolling through J.Crew and I saw it front and center. Then, to my surprise, it was on sale (just as I saw shopping for a statement necklace)!

{a sunny visit}

What I'm Wearing:
Chambray shirt from Gap,
skirt by Full Tilt,
t-shirt from Target, boots by Boemos,
watch by Michael Kors

What John is Wearing:
Shirt from Urban Outfitters,
chino pants from Banana Republic,
boots by Penguin from Marshalls,
watch by DKNY
Colorado is crazy in that one day you can be trudging through sleet and the next it's 72 and beautiful outside! John and I were able to spend the afternoon relaxing on a blanket in a park after an amazing day of skiing yesterday.  What a wonderful glimpse into summertime!

I wanted to embrace the summery weather, but also wanted to balance my outfit with a few warmer elements. Layering a chambray shirt over a basic white t-shirt mixed with a loose black skirt was the perfect combination for spending the afternoon outside. John was prepared for the warm weather as well with his short sleeve button-down and light and comfortable chinos. The day was all around perfect and it was such a blessing to be able to spend it with him!

{exploring the mile high city}

What I'm wearing:
Sweater by ,
jeans from American Eagle,
flats by Steve Madden,
watch by Michael Kors,
necklace from my childhood,
sunglasses from boutique in New York
I might be wearing gray, but in no way was my evening gray! Some friends of mine live downtown in Denver and after years of living in Colorado, I finally went out adventuring in the mile high city. The evening took us to Tommy Thai's for dinner, Mezcal for margaritas, Mile High Distillery for dancing, and Voodoo Doughnuts for... DOUGHNUTS! Not my usual Friday night, but I loved it! At Voodoo Doughnuts, they have a crazy selection of doughnuts that are worth a 20 minute wait. As you can see below, I got a Maple glazed with bavarian cream, a raspberry jelly, a Oreo and peanut butter drizzled,  and of course, the Voodoo Doll with raspberry filling and a pretzel stabbed into it. What an fun night of exploring a few of Denver's neighborhoods with great friends!
As for my look, I decided to add some pop to my gray top by applying a dark red lip stick. With a loose top, I usually like to keep things basic on the bottom, like skinny jeans or a basic black skirt. Comfy and warm minus the flats (bad idea when it started snowing...live and learn I guess!)
