For this outfit, I paired a relatively casual v-neck shirt from Urban Outfitters with a fancy pencil skirt. I love my chunky black heels from Dansko, which are insanely comfortable. To me, my outfit has a nerdy feel about it, which I love :) with the vintage-looking stripes, the mary jeans, and a knee length skirt.

{Tuesday Night Out}

Last night my roommates and I headed into Denver for a concert at the High Dive. The band my boyfriend drums for, Jay J Matott & The Arctic, was opening for PickWick, a new band out of Seattle. It was such an awesome concert. The Arctic recently added drum parts and it sounded amazing. Such creativity in their songs! Also Jay J's lyrics really strike deep down & resonate with me.

 Then PickWick came on after. They had so much energy and had a really fun vibe about them. Their music just makes you wanna dance, which I did! Overall it was a late, but great night :)

{International Ensemble}

Without even really planning it, today I ended up wearing an almost completely international outfit. When I traveled to London to visit my sister while she was abroad, I got this unique teal blouse from TopShop, which is basically a fancy version of H&M in England. As for my earrings and flats, I bought those in Argentina while I was studying abroad. I absolutely love the pattern on my shoes and picked up a couple other things with that fabric, including a computer case. My earrings are from an artisan street market in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, just blocks from my house this past semester abroad.

Today in my level 5 class the students turned in a project in which they had to make a music video of a popular song and translate it into English. Some of my favorites were "You Belong With Me," "That's How I Beat Shaq," and "Friday." So hilarious and amazing!!

As for my outfit, my mom gave me these wild and colorful Missoni flats from Target for Christmas this year. I then added other pops of color with my teal tank top and blue necklace. I hope the colors all look alright together!

Tennessee orange "Pray for Scott" bracelet
since 2009

After a 5 year battle with cancer my dear friend Scott went on to heaven. I am so blessed to have been able to travel home to Chicago to say goodbye and let him know how much I love him. He helped me grow so much and become the woman I am today by toughening me up with his practical jokes, challenging me to know Jesus in a deeper way, and showing me what true joy and courage means in this life. I will miss him so much, but I feel comfort knowing that he's jumping for joy in heaven right now, cancer free. He ran the race and I know that when he was welcomed into the kingdom the Lord said "well done, good and faithful servant."

I'm not going to lie and say that wearing these slightly small, yet amazingly cute nude heels today wasn't a little painful, but it was worth it when some of my girl students commented on them. (Not that I wear what I do asking for compliments, but they never hurt, right?) Thanks girls! :)

Also for my ring, I found that little beauty at an antique store in Forest Park, IL. Daisies are my favorite flowers, so when I saw the daisy detailing on the coral center stone I wanted it to be mine... And now it is!

A year and a half ago when I first started observing teachers at high schools I went out to Plato's Closet to "make my wardrobe teacher friendly." I wanted to look more mature and put together (hopefully its working!) I bought this sweater which is now one of the most comfortable things I own. I love the fun purple pattern that spices up my skinny black pants!
